Princess Calistra Silvercrest

It had been several months back in my body, and things were still kind of awkward. Not in my body. I didn’t even have the rune scar left after transferring back into my own skin. Most of the awkwardness was with people who knew me during that time. A lot of the guards were filled in by my father on the happenings of the years, and they were very much accepting of my newly regained empathy, but they didn’t really like to know that the demon that had chased down the princess that day, killing them and their friends, even if only in their mind… Was the real princess.

A few outright quit. A few of them refused to be stationed anywhere near me. A few claimed that if I still had that power, why did we need guards to begin with? I happened to agree, but I wasn’t about to stop paying any of them when it was my fault they had been traumatized so badly to begin with. I was sure there were other ways to accomplish what I had, but in all honesty, this was was easily the most cathartic for me, as well as most assured for me to accomplish my goals without fail. And while I didn’t think that my father would be on board for keeping the guards who quit paid, He seemed all too willing. I think he felt he had some blame in the situation as well, since he had decided to let my plan go off without warning any of them.

I did take my place as a protector of the realm due to my powers. My father stepped down from his position as king shortly after we were back to normal. He claimed that I was more fit than any to rule a kingdom such as ours. He claimed our history of magic would have been lost without my time.. Abroad. I didn’t hate the idea. I certainly didn’t hate the perks of being the queen. Though, it did make things a little confusing having two queens around. Especially when one was starting to show. Deena made true to her promise of loving me for me. She didn’t have ANY qualms with the bodies we now were able to share with each other. I found I rather loved her womanly form no matter what body I resided in as well. And her soul was kind and genuine as always. She was getting rather large in that body though, and I was worried she would burst any day now. Our future prince or princess would be a blessing upon us and the generations to come. And that we had both been… participants of the pregnancy, made it so that even though it was not technically my flesh and blood, the child was as much mine as hers. I remember being unable to hide the giggle when I finally realized what she meant by “I’ll count on it.” when I asked her to let me help with the pregnancy.

And my father took his time away from royalty to invest in someone he had cherished while I was away. Regina was now officially a part of the family, and an excellent step-mother. I had grown up with her nearby all my life, but having her near my dad now, just felt right. I couldn’t hear them, but the guards frequently talked about how loud they were together in the middle of the night. Regina was a screamer, so it seemed. And I had no room to judge, with how much I loved the sound of Dee’s pleasure. A truly happy couple should scream it from the rooftops, should they not? And it seemed like we were all pretty happy at the castle in the end.

Fiona though? She and Dale were best of friends. After I had formally adopted her and Derek, she had moved into the tower with the cat and was learning everything she could. She was even faster a learner than I had been! And no less potent. She would be a match for me in magical power by this time next year. I trusted her with my life though. And Derek had invested those coins I gave him in an orphanage. One where he could personally help to better the lives of children like him and his sister. He spent every day pouring his heart and soul into the most amazing life he could create for each and every one of those kids. And once it was up and running, there were a few anonymous benefactors whom fueled the project onward. One was of course, me and my royal coffers. The other was Fiona. She had a new spell to help with everything around that place. Eventually the whole thing could have been run from enchantments alone, just like the tower. She was specializing in enchantments, and was exceptional at rewriting or building them from her own ideas. Derek however refused to lose that personal touch, and only actually used the enchantments that would give him more time to spend parenting the kids in his care.

The only one who didn’t make it out so lucky was the poor guard that had been trapped in my closet for all those years. Shawn his name had been. Though unfortunately he was more used to being called “My Pet” anymore. His young wife had moved on without him and his child never knew him. A child who now had several siblings from another father, whom he called dad. Shawn wasn’t phased by this knowledge though. He simply begged to stay by my side. He saw me as his savior, as I had been the one to pull him out of the shackles and give him his freedom back. He had watched me transfer back into my own body, and knew I was not the one who had put him there to begin with, and he dedicated his life to being my servant. I wouldn’t have asked him to be such a thing, but he was rather adamant. I decided to keep him around for a few reasons. He was sweet for one. And… Who’s to say me and Dee would be done after one baby? I kind of wanted to be a mother too, one day. And we did still have that artifact in a box. This time under lock and key. But who’s to say that key wouldn’t find that lock one night when Dee wanted to feel what a woman couldn’t? Shawn didn’t mind the idea at all. In fact, he had suggested it. Though in much less risque terminology. I had only blushed, but when Dee gave me that raised eyebrow… “As soon as this thing is out of me, it’s your turn.” she had pointed at her bulging belly. And I couldn’t help but be excited.

I was excited for our future. For me, for my lovely queen, for my father, my step-mother, my adopted children, my REAL children! And for my kingdom. Now growing into a nation rich with magic more than any others in the world. We had built some tunnels through the mountains at our borders. Trade had become incredibly prominent! And a girl had come with her father to our lands for help from us as soon as she heard of the abilities of our magical little realm. She had pleaded with me for assistance with a curse placed upon her. Her name was Mirelle. She was a noble. Though from her story, she had lost her memory, and had thought herself to be a man named Sam… When I saw the scar though, the whole story made sense. I simply hauled up the boy from our dungeons and the face she made was priceless. The transition back into their own bodies was quick and simple, and once the monster I now knew was Mirelle, was out of Sam, her father was livid with her. Sam however was granted full adoption into the noble family that Mirelle had once been the only heir to. She had lost it all to Sam, the wandering merchant she had taken everything from. Mirelle had no problems being allowed to go back to her own lands without her artifact. She was happy to see her father, even after he punished her. And she was happy that Sam had forgiven her. As rough as his life had been as her, she was a noble after all, and being a part of that lifestyle was hard to shake off. Being able to stay as part of the family was a great deal for him. She though, seemed to have learned her lesson. She was not the spoiled brat who had played princess for two years. She wasn’t exactly a paragon of virtue either, but she certainly got most of her angst out when mucking about in other bodies. Now she seemed to understand just how good she did have it before. And how much she had actually missed her bossy dad.

She, Sam and her father had left for their home shortly after, and life moved on. I felt like maybe years from now this would make an exceptionally funny story, but for now, it was simply a time I wanted to move past. My magic however was a permanent reminder of that time, so what better way to move past than to share that power, I created a school to teach the children of the area basic spells. Food, Water, and basic necessities were no longer things people need pay for. Some of the students learned to wield defensive magic. Some learned to harness illusions. Some learned to conjure items. And some learned to manipulate the matter of the world around us. Most were not as adept as I had been, nor anywhere near as adept as Fiona proved to be. But they learned none the less. And they traveled the world to spread the joys and ease of magic and how it can benefit daily life. The world would be more magical as time progressed.

And this, my dear diary, is the story of how I lost my life, and found my love and passion, joy and kindness. I found so much more than I could ever have imagined from simply losing my body for a time. In the end it was all for the best, right? We all get a happy ending. And that’s all anyone can really ask for.
